Do You Need a New UPS?
UPS -- Uninterruptible Power Supply
-- Your present UPS may not be compatible with Generators.
-- You have a UPS because the typical building has “power anomalies” about 300 times every day – sags, surges, spikes, noise, distortion, frequency variation, and momentary power interruptions.
-- About ninety percent of computer freezes and other problems are caused by these “power anomalies”.
-- A power interruption of just one hundredth of a second (a half cycle) can be enough to crash a computer system and lose data.
-- The UPS provides uninterrupted power for the 6-60 seconds or more needed until the Generator takes over, prevents data loss, and protects sensitive equipment from “power anomalies”.
Only the “on-line double conversion” type of UPS is always compatible with Generators.
-- You may need to convert to that type if your present UPS is either the “off-line” (lowest grade) or “line-interactive” (middle grade).
-- You will also benefit from a significant increase in protection.
-- Some types of electronic furnace controls or oven controls, and perhaps other electronic controls, may also function better on the UPS-protected circuit.
Quoted on request -- Please tell us what equipment the UPS needs to support, and for each one how many watts or amps or VA, and at what voltage and phase.
